There is so much to see and do in the Hocking Hills area of Ohio. If you love nature, hiking, zip lining, camping, rappelling, archery, mountain biking, horse back riding, bird watching and just generally being outdoors then this is a place you will not want to miss visiting. There truly is something for everyone here; you will not be lacking for things to do in Hocking Hills, that’s for sure!
We had such a great time during our visit to this area. We went during the heavy rain and flooding time that came in Ohio. Unfortunately, we didn’t get in some of the activities that we had planned. We still had a great time though and the rain and flooding gave us a chance to do some other things and get in some extra relaxation that we hadn’t planned on.
Hocking Hills State Park
I am a huge fan of hiking and camping! I love it! Sydney doesn’t mind hiking and camping, but she most definitely doesn’t love it the way I do. I could do it all year long! There is just something so peaceful and relaxing about being out in the midst of nature.

We did manage to get some hiking in around all the rain. We hiked in Ash Cave. What a beautiful trail this is! There are several trails in the Hocking Hills State Park to choose from. The shortest hiking trail is a 1/4 mile and the longest is 3 miles. There is a good variety of trail lengths, even ones that are perfect for families with little ones.

Area trails include Ash Cave Gorge, Ash Cave Rim, Cedar Falls, Old Man’s Cave, Conkles Hollow, Conkles Hollow Rim, Rock House and Cantwell Cliffs. Ash Cave Gorge and Conkles Hollow are both wheel chair accessible. We didn’t get to hike many of them due to all the rain, so we most definitely will be coming back so that we can hike them all. It is just so gorgeous here!

Camping
A “things to do in Hocking Hills” article would not be complete without this topic!! If camping is your thing there are several campgrounds in the area. If a cabin or cottage is more to your liking there are tons of them around that you can rent. Sydney and I stayed at a cabin at Cherry Ridge Retreat. We had an amazing stay here!

Relaxation
Since we had so much rain while we were here we got in some much needed and unexpected down time. I got quite a bit of reading done and Sydney spent time on the computer. If bird watching is your thing, our cabin had binoculars and a bird reference book for your enjoyment.

Hocking Hills Canopy Tours
We had a zip line adventure and an off-road segway tour scheduled through Hocking Hills Canopy Tours, but once again the rain and flooding cancelled these out. This was definitely something that we were really looking forward to experiencing! The Hocking Hills Canopy Tours is located at 10714 Jackson St, Rockbridge, OH.

Ash Cave Day Spa
One thing that we had scheduled that didn’t get rained out was a mother-daughter massage. We can not begin to tell you how beautiful and relaxing it was at Ash Cave Day Spa! From the moment you arrived and saw the beautiful grounds you started to relax and hadn’t even entered the building or began your massage.

Ash Cave Day Spa is located at 25780 Liberty Hill Rd, South Bloomingville, OH. They employ 6 massage therapists. Now this is the best part…they will come to you in your cabin if you don’t want to go out! How amazing is that! They have been in business for the past 3 years. Their most popular packages are the Couples Massage, Mother-Daughter Massage and the 3 in 1 (1/2 hour massage, a spa facial and a spa foot treatment).
This is something I would recommend even if you don’t have rainy weather. After doing a lot of hiking it is pure heaven to have someone pamper you and work out all of the kinks and soreness from the hiking. It truly was amazing.

There was so much more we wanted to see and do but the weather just didn’t permit it. Rain can definitely effect things to do in Hocking Hills, but we didn’t let that stop us! We will most definitely be returning for another visit and sharing with you all the other things we find to do and places we find to explore!
Check out our awesome luxury cabin we stayed in during our trip!
We hope you get a chance to visit the Hocking Hills area soon! It truly is a beautiful place to visit.
This looks like a lot of fun! (And I am not an outdoorsy person). Thanks for sharing.
