If you have been following us for very long then you know that I truly believe chocolate should have its own category in the food groups. I love it that much! Coffee should also have its own category, but that is for another post. 🙂 This fudgy single serve brownie is so delicious. The milk chocolate chips add a sweetness and great flavor that compliments the chocolate of the cocoa powder. They work together in perfect harmony! Who could say no if they were offered one of these beauties?
Time For Baking Tips
One tip we want to share with you is that anytime we bake or cook and the recipe calls for milk, we always use whole milk. Whole milk adds a creamier texture to any dish you are making.
Another tip we would like to highlight is that when you are baking with cocoa powder, use one that is high quality. There is a higher fat content in good quality cocoa powder that adds another level of richness and creaminess to your baked goods. Penzeys carries a cocoa powder that is naturally high in fat. This is one of our favorites to use.
This recipe calls for an egg yolk. You can either discard the egg white or save it for another recipe. This will give you a good excuse to make another sweet treat. Or you can make a healthier choice and make yourself an egg white omelet. Both ideas sound delicious!
Easy to Over-Bake!
When baking this single serve brownie set your oven timer for about 5 minutes earlier than what the recipe calls for. This recipe is very easy to over-bake because each brownie is baked in a ramekin. Just keep inserting a toothpick in the center until they are just done. If they are a dab under baked you will get a chewier brownie.
This recipe makes two single serve brownies. They are so elegant and would be perfect for an extra nice dessert. It will look like you went to a lot of trouble to make them, but it is no extra effort at all. It is all about the perception, right? They would be perfect for date night or to have with your best friend. You could even have them both for yourself. One now and one later. 🙂

These are great just the way they are. If you want a little bit of a prettier look you can add a little powder sugar to the top once they have cooled.
Turn Them Into Sundaes!
Our favorite way to enjoy them is to serve them once they have cooled some but are still warm. Place a scoop of ice cream on top and drizzle on some chocolate syrup. Wow…these extras take this awesome single serve brownie to a whole new level! Check this out!
You could also substitute the chocolate chips for white chocolate chips. That would be really pretty. If peanut butter is your thing you could add peanut butter chips in place of the chocolate chips. Both of these would add a different taste and look.
However you make yours, we know you will enjoy them. They are also a lot of fun for little ones. They always love little servings that are just for them.
The inspiration for these amazing brownies goes to Chelsea’s Messy Apron. Thanks for the great idea!
Have a great day and make it even better by doing some baking!
