Wow! What a perfect start to the Holiday Welcome Weekend in Miami County, Ohio…an ice storm! We woke up to ice everywhere. Beautiful ice crystals hanging from all the trees and a light fog made for the most magical drive to downtown Piqua where we began our Christmas shopping fun. And let me tell you, shopping in Miami County is a wonderful experience! All the store decorations just added to the festive outside winter wonderland. It was truly as if Miami County had ordered this winter ice storm to kick off their downtown holiday season. It was truly amazing!
Shopping in Miami County…
We are so excited to bring you this article full of great places to shop and dine in Miami County. There is something so special about hanging out in downtown areas. Maybe it’s the slower pace or friendliness of the shop owners and assistants? Or the unique restaurants and coffee shops? Maybe it is the welcoming hospitality of the bed and breakfast owners? All we know is that when you combine all of these together it makes for the perfect getaway!
First Up – Piqua: Can’t Stop Running
Downtown Piqua, Ohio is where we made our first stop. Can’t Stop Running, 321 North Main St, is a really neat store for runners and walkers. Shoes, apparel and handy gadgets can be found here. Check out this really cute shirt. Almost makes you want to take up running, you notice I did say “almost!” 🙂
If running or walking shoes are what you need they have a really great selection. My son is a runner and I have learned over the years, after purchasing many pairs of running shoes, how very important it is to have the correct footwear and the correct size! If you have a runner or walker in the family, come check out all the neat Christmas gifts you can find for them at Can’t Stop Running.
Have an antique lover in the family? If you do, then shopping in Miami County at The Mercantile is a must! Such a fun store with tons of really neat items that take you back in time. They also have the cutest shop kitty that is so sweet and friendly. The Mercantile is located at 415 N Main St.
Dobo’s Delights Bake Shoppe
If you need a sweet treat to get you through to your next meal, then make sure you stop in and check out all the goodies at Dobo’s Delights Bake Shoppe. They are located at 417 N Main St. Such sweet goodness! Need pies or cookies for the holidays but don’t have time to bake? Just place an order with Dobo’s Bakery and let them take care of all your dessert needs.
The Blue Bow Boutique
The Blue Bow Boutique had just opened their newest store in Piqua the morning we were there. Sydney was the first person to purchase something at their Piqua location at 325 N Main St! How neat was that? They have two other locations in Greenville and Troy for your shopping convenience. Multiple locations makes it so easy while shopping in Miami County. Check out these cute clothes, accessories and home decor items! Who wouldn’t love to wake up Christmas morning to some of these? I know we would! 🙂
3 Joe’s Pizzeria & Trattoria
Lunch at 3 Joe’s Pizzeria and Trattoria was next on our list. We had worked up quite an appetite with all of our morning shopping! They are located at 414 W Water St in Piqua. Our taste buds were about to explode with all of the Italian deliciousness! They have a wonderful selection of salads, appetizers, entrees and pizza. It was so hard to choose what to have for lunch. The food was excellent and warming up by the fire in the dining room felt so good!
Piqua, Ohio has so much to offer. There are so many more shops and businesses that we couldn’t begin to cover in the day and a half that we had to spend shopping in Miami County.
Downtown Troy, Ohio was where we spent the afternoon. There is so much to see and do here!
Ark & Echo
Ark & Echo, 101 S Market St, is such a beautiful store. They truly have something for everyone on your Christmas list. You will find clothing, scarves, jewelry, home decor and so much more here.
Pachamama Market is a really cool store where you will find something for even that hard-to-buy-for-person on your Christmas list. They are located at 116 S Market St. Pachamama Market is a marketplace for fair trade, handmade and eco-friendly goods. Handmade ornaments, pottery, leather bags of all types (even for the man in your life), jewelry, scarves, woven baskets and so much more can be found here. Even though you may be shopping in Miami County, you are purchasing items that are made all over the world!
For the home decor and furniture lover in your life, you will definitely not want to miss Carolina Moon, located at 112 E Main St. You can get that special someone something really awesome for their family room or office. There is a lot packed into this amazing store! Definitely check it out!
Purebred Coffee Co.
Whew! It is coffee break time! Stop by Purebred Coffee Co. at 110 E Main St and rest your tired feet while enjoying some of the best coffee and pastries that Miami County has to offer. This is such a great place with friendly and fun baristas! Check out this Caramel Latte. Delicious and pretty! You can even do some Christmas shopping here. A bag of their wonderful coffee, a cool gadget or some coffee apparel would be perfect for the coffee lover on your list! I would so love to get any of these great items for Christmas (hint, hint Sydney)! 🙂
Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop
Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop was where we finished our Christmas shopping in Troy. They are located at 1 East Main St. Let’s be honest, this store is not just for kids! They have so many different candies that I used to get when I was a little girl. Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop even has a candy buffet. You can fill a box up for $5.00! Of course, Sydney and I had to fill one up! It is just so much fun. 🙂 They even have bottles of soda pop that will remind you of the “good old days”! Seriously, this is just a feel good kind of place. Perfect for stocking stuffers and the little and big ones on your list!
Shopping in Miami County made us super hungry!!! For dinner we went to El Sombrero at 1700 N County Rd 25A. Italian for lunch and Mexican for dinner, what could be better? Our meals were absolutely delicious! We both said we would definitely come here again! It was so warm and relaxing. The perfect ending to a wonderful day!
Last But Not Least…Tipp City!
Day two found us in Tipp City, Ohio. Such a charming downtown area!
Fox and Feather Trading Co.
Our first stop was at Fox and Feather Trading Co. They are located at 115 W Main St. This boutique has two floors for your shopping pleasure! Lots of clothing, shoes, purses and jewelry for that special female in your life. You will find neat pillows, home decor and a great selection of kitchen items here. I personally loved their neat tea towels! They carry clothing and items for your children and grandchildren, as well. Their newest addition to the store is their brand new men’s clothing line! Something for that special guy on your list!
Living Simply Soap
Living Simply Soap at 112 E Main St is a really cool store. All kinds of soaps and lotions in every scent imaginable. Such a fun and neat place. Put a couple goodies in a Christmas stocking or go all out and make a really beautiful Christmas gift basket with all the soaps, lotions and accessories. Perfect for that beauty lover on your list!
Birch, a women’s clothing boutique, can be found at 108 E Main St. They make tons and tons of shirts for sports teams, local schools and other organizations along with carrying some really neat items in their store. A personalized ball cap, t shirt or coffee mug would make a really fun and unique gift! Shopping in Miami County doesn’t have to be a Christmas-only event…during back-to-school season, stock up on your school gear here!
Grounds For Pleasure Coffee
It was time for a coffee break at Grounds for Pleasure Coffee at 115 E Main St. This coffee shop is so warm and cozy. We so love the atmosphere here! A Peppermint Bark Latte topped with whipped cream was absolute heaven! So delicious and warming.
Merchant 31 at 114 E Main St is such a fun and inviting boutique while shopping in Miami County. Whether you are looking for clothing, jewelry, shoes, scarves or t shirts, you will find so many great selections for the shopping diva on your Christmas list! They also have two other locations in Minster and Centerville.
There were 5 towns included in this Holiday Welcome Weekend in Miami County, Ohio. Unfortunately, Sydney and I only had a day and a half to spend here, so we were only able to visit 3 of the 5 wonderful downtown areas. I cannot begin to tell you, first of all, what a wonderful time we had. Secondly, we got so much Christmas shopping done! We love the fact that we were able to buy local and support small businesses, while getting really beautiful items for our loved ones that are unique and different! There is something really special about being able to talk with the shop owners and have them help you out with thoughts and ideas.
And you just have to check out the B&B we stayed at during our trip! The Charlotte Bed & Breakfast is absolutely breathtaking…it felt like we stepped onto a Hallmark Christmas movie set.
Seriously, you need to do at least some of your Christmas shopping in Miami County, Ohio’s downtown areas. Come for the whole weekend with your girlfriends, husband or daughters. We promise you will have the best time ever! We did! 🙂
