Sydney and I went berry picking at Champaign Berry Farm in Urbana, OH. They had the most beautiful, plump red raspberries we have ever seen. We hadn’t been berry picking in a long time and was amazed to find how relaxing and peaceful it was picking one berry after another. Maybe our crazy schedule leading up to picking day contributed to the relaxing feeling we got from the picking process. Whatever it was, we had a really nice time and highly recommend it! 🙂
Now to be completely honest, we did cheat a little on this red raspberry pie though, shhh! Don’t tell! We didn’t make our pie crust from scratch. Just a little too busy to add that to the list of things to do. I know, how awful! Whether you use a crust from scratch or one from the store, this red raspberry pie is still delicious! We have a tip to share with you to make your purchased crust look and taste more homemade. Before you put the pie in the oven, put a dab of water on top with the pie crust with your fingertips (make sure your hands are clean!). Then generously sprinkle sugar all over the top of the pie. This gives the pie a glazed sugary crust on top! Just check this beautiful piece of pie out below! So delicious!
Caution: the pie filling will be very hot! Make sure you allow to cool some before eating. Enjoy alone or with ice cream. A tall glass of milk or a hot cup of coffee would go along with this pie perfectly!
Seriously, I wish you could smell our kitchen right now. It smells so amazing in here!
