I have to start by admitting that peanut butter cookies are just okay for me. I am much more of a chocolate chip cookie kind of girl. Although I love most anything with peanut butter in it, peanut butter cookies are something that I can take or leave. My husband, on the other hand, absolutely loves peanut butter cookies. They are probably his favorite. This is an old family recipe that I have been making for my husband, Jim, for years and years. He says this recipe makes the best peanut butter cookies that he has ever had! So, if you are a peanut butter cookie lover like Jim, then you may also really love this recipe.
Tip: add plenty of granulated sugar on the top of the cookie before baking. Jim says that the extra sugar on the top really adds a lot to the taste and texture of the cookie. So, don’t be afraid to go wild with the sugar. 🙂
Another tip: when you are pressing down on the cookies with the bottom of a glass to flatten them, dip the glass in granulated sugar before pressing. This will keep the raw dough from sticking to the bottom of the glass.
I do have to admit that these cookies really do smell amazing when they are baking. The peanut butter smell fills the kitchen and just smells wonderful!
Change It Up
I always use smooth peanut butter when I am making these cookies, but you could easily use chunky peanut butter for a different texture. You could also add in some chopped peanuts for a different taste and texture, if so desired.
Here is to hoping you have a great day and that you love this recipe as much as Jim does. He said to tell you that you will not be disappointed. 🙂
