It is so hard to believe that it is back-to-school time already. Where did this summer go? I guess, if I am being completely honest, I say that every year. The older I get the quicker time seems to pass by. Keep reading to learn how to make Homemade Strawberry Poptarts!
Introducing Homemade Strawberry Poptarts…
These Homemade Strawberry Poptarts are truly as much fun to make as they are to eat. They are just so colorful and just make you want to smile. Not to mention, they smell delicious when they are baking in the oven. Yum!
As most of us know breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Unfortunately, breakfast is also the most skipped meal of the day. Children and teens don’t like to get up early and make/eat a hot and healthy breakfast. In all seriousness, parents today are so busy they don’t have time to prepare a hot and healthy breakfast. We have the solution for you. You can feel better sending your children out the door with these Homemade Strawberry Poptarts. Homemade beats prepackaged food from both a taste standpoint and a nutritional standpoint. Go Team Homemade!! Just toast, grab, and go. Everyone is happy!
Change Up The Recipe
If strawberry isn’t to your child’s liking, then try a different filling. Maybe they like cherry or grape. You can always add food coloring to the icing for more color and to tell the flavors apart from each other. Maybe your teens aren’t a fan of sprinkles, leave them off. These poptarts are so versatile. You seriously can’t go wrong however you fill and top them.
Perfect For Busy Parents
Many of us parents are super busy ourselves. The thoughts of making poptarts from scratch just seems like one more thing that we will be putting on our to-do list. Here comes the answer…let your kids help you when you are making them. It will be a fun and creative time for them. It will also be the perfect quality time to spend together. You can’t get enough quality time with your children, ever! Take my word for it, time goes by so quickly. One day they are little and it seems like just a little bit later and have moved on to their adult lives. Take advantage of this time while you have it!
Freeze Them For Later!
Another great thing about these Homemade Strawberry Poptarts is that you can freeze them. Make a double or triple batch when you are baking. That will save you from having to bake them as often. Unless of course, you are enjoying that quality time that we spoke about earlier!
Each batch makes 8-10 poptarts, depending on how thick you roll out the dough. This means that you will need 8-10 tablespoons of strawberry preserves (or the flavor of your choice) for each batch. It is 1 tablespoon of preserves per poptart. We learned the hard way not to overfill them. The first time we made these we used 2 tablespoons of preserves per poptart and we had a massive explosion of the filling. Learn from our mistake and don’t overfill!
They are way beyond delicious. We have done a lot of taste testing, as we created these Homemade Strawberry Poptarts, and we are sure that you and your children will love them as much as Sydney and I do.
We hope you take advantage of cooking and baking with your children whenever you can. It is just so much fun and it is also a great way to spend some quality time with them. Try making these Homemade Strawberry Poptarts together soon. You will be so glad you did!
Have an amazing school year!
