Halloween Cupcake Brownies are two favorites mixed together. Brownie at the bottom of the cupcake and cake at the top! And a homemade buttercream frosting with sprinkles to top it off.
We always get excited for fall baking. The pumpkin, apples, and cinnamon take over in all our recipes. We welcome the taste change from summer recipes. The same could be said about Halloween baking except instead of different ingredients taking over, color changes take over. We now have bright oranges, yellows, purples, lime greens, and black. Such an onslaught of amazing bright colors to represent the Halloween season!
With these Halloween Cupcake Brownies the orange pops right out at you from the cake part of these cupcakes. We kept our frosting white, but for an added pop of Halloween fun you could make the icing a Halloween color by adding food coloring to it. If you have little ones, you can add to the color fun by using Halloween themed cupcake liners. I can remember when Sydney and Mason were little and cupcakes just seemed to taste better, and were definitely more fun, when they were in seasonal cupcake liners. I miss those days. I’m looking forward to all the holiday fun when I have grandchildren!
Halloween Cupcake Brownies Are Super Easy!

These Halloween Cupcake Brownies really are super easy, as well as being super delicious. What more could you want? Besides the obvious of them being carb and calorie free!
We have included our favorite buttercream frosting in this article. It seriously makes the Halloween Cupcake Brownies even more special!
How To Bake Halloween Cupcake Brownies
When it comes to the amount of time these need to bake, we had to do some tweaking to get these just right. We initially went by a toothpick inserted into the middle of the cake portion of the cupcake coming out clean to mean it was done. Well, that was great for the cake portion of the cupcake but the brownie portion ended up being too done. So we backed the time off by a couple of minutes and found that when we had just a tiny bit of cupcake residue on the toothpick they were done. The brownie was baked to perfection and the cupcake finished baking perfectly on its own.
We also removed the cupcake brownies immediately to a cooling rack to keep the brownie portion from continuing to bake against the hot cupcake pans. For our oven, the perfect amount of baking time was 16 minutes. We would recommend you start checking them at the 14 minute mark.
You will need food coloring for the cake portion of the cupcake. If you want the icing a different color, you will also need food coloring for the icing. Don’t forget the Halloween sprinkles or colored sugar crystals for the top of the icing! The ever important Halloween themed cupcake liners must also not be forgotten!
This is such a fun and tasty Halloween treat for children and adults alike. You are never too old for Halloween. If you think you are then just give these Halloween Cupcake Brownies a try and see if you don’t change your mind.
