Nothing feels like comfort food more than homemade biscuits. This easy homemade biscuit recipe is amazing! There is something very special about a flaky, buttery homemade biscuit warm from the oven. Whether you enjoy your biscuit with jam, sausage gravy or with melted butter there just isn’t anything better!
Sydney and I both love our biscuits the same way. So at the end of the baking time we like to brush on a little melted butter and sprinkle on some sea salt. We both love a tiny bit of salty goodness swirling in with the buttery flavor. So extra delicious! These biscuits truly melt in your mouth! These are definitely our go-to biscuits now. So easy to make and so good to eat!
This easy homemade biscuit recipe is adapted from the Magnolia Table cookbook. Thanks for the great inspiration Joanna! Sydney and I made a few small changes the second time we made these biscuits, just to suite our own personal tastes. That is one of the things we love the best about baking and cooking, making little changes that our taste buds approve of! 🙂
Time saver…make them ahead!
One of the great things about this easy homemade biscuit recipe is that there is a chilling time. After you have the biscuit dough mixed, chill the dough for 30 minutes to overnight. The overnight part really excited us because we can make the biscuit dough the night before, chill the dough while we sleep, then all that is left in the morning is baking some glorious biscuits. How awesome is this?
Do these not look beyond delicious? They are true perfection! 🙂
Perfect with anything!
This easy homemade biscuit recipe is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. For breakfast we love them with jam, but they would also be amazing with sausage gravy over them or make a great sausage and egg sandwich. So good! For dinner we love them with fried chicken, but they would go great with beef stew or pork chops also! So many different ways to enjoy them.
Obviously, they are best the day they are made. But these biscuits are still good later on. You can store leftovers, if you have any, in an air-tight container or zipped bag for a couple of days. You can freeze them for up to two weeks.
Have fun with these biscuits. Add some chives or cheddar cheese to the biscuit dough. How good would that be? We will have to try adding some different flavors and seasonings the next time we make them.
Your family will love these no matter what time of day you serve them and no matter what other foods you serve them with. We promise!
Have an awesome day today!
