Best Breakfast Biscuits
Fluffy biscuits with hints of maple syrup, pieces of bacon, and cheddar cheese.

  • 10slices baconcooked and torn into small pieces
  • 1cup cheddar cheeseshredded, mild, or sharp (depending on your taste)
  • 4cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2cups buttermilk
  • 3tablespoons buttermilk(In addition to the above)
  • 1/8cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1teaspoon baking soda
  • 4teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4cup salted butterfrozen and grated
  • 8tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2tablespoons additional salted buttermelted
  • sea saltto sprinkle on top
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook bacon until brown and crispy. Drain fat and transfer to a paper towel lined plate.
  3. Using a large bowl combine the bacon pieces, cheddar cheese, flour, sugar, kosher salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  4. Grate the frozen butter using a large hole grater. Combine into the dry ingredients and set aside again.
  5. Using a medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and syrup. Add to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough forms.
  6. Flour a working surface. Knead the dough until it comes together (a minute or so). Roll the dough onto the floured work surface with a rolling pin into a 1 1/4 inch thick rectangle. Using a 2 inch biscuit cutter, cut out the biscuits. Place the cut out biscuits onto the parchment lined baking sheet. Place in the freezer for 15 minutes to set.
  7. Remove the pan of biscuits from the freezer and bake for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. In a small bowl melt the 2 tablespoons of butter. Brush the melted butter on the top of the biscuits and sprinkle on a little sea salt when they come out of the oven.
