Applesauce Muffins are very simple. Enjoy these in the fall season…or year round! It has really yummy flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg, and apples.
The cool crisp air, crunching leaves beneath my feet, vibrant reds, oranges and yellows, cozy warm sweaters, and apples baking in the oven are just a few of my favorite things that I love about fall. I absolutely love the fall season! It is full of festivals and the official start of the upcoming holiday season.
We Love The Smell Of Fall
My favorite fall kitchen smells are cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice. When these smells are coming from the oven and kitchen, I am in my happy place. I love fall baking for several reasons but I think one of my favorite reasons is that it is the start of all the holiday baking. Sydney and I both are huge fans of the holidays and holiday baking. Make no mistake, when Christmas is over we need a break from all the baking…but since baking isn’t something we overdo in the hot summer months it is something we always get excited about starting in the fall.
These Applesauce Muffins will put you in the mood for fall. The combination of applesauce, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg create the most amazing taste and heavenly smell.
The brown sugar and cinnamon crumble topping adds the perfect slight crunch to the moist muffins. Our family loves a crumb topping or course sugar crystals on top of our muffins for a little added crunch. We rarely make muffins anymore without some type of a topping on them. It may even be that along with the crunch we love the added sweetness that a streusel topping or sugar crystals give to muffins.
If you are a crumb topping lover too, make sure to check out our Cream Cheese Lemon Streusel Muffins! Yum!
No Apple Peeling Required!
If you are not a fan of peeling and cutting apples then this recipe is calling your name. There is no peeling or cutting required. You just need one cup of your favorite homemade or store bought applesauce. It is that simple. Great for when you are a little short on time, but still want to have something homemade. If we are being totally honest, we all can use a hand in the time department sometimes.
Applesauce Muffins Recipe Tips
One tip we want to share with you is how we get our muffins to have more of a bakery style look to them. It is all in how high you fill the paper muffin liners, the oven temperature, and the time. We use specific temperatures and times for all of our muffins. We love to get the height out of our muffins just like the bakeries do.
The very first thing you want to do is fill the muffin batter up almost to the top of the paper muffin liner. You want them pretty full. The second thing is the temperature and timing. You preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. For the first five minutes of baking you bake at 400 degrees F. You then drop the temperature to 375 degrees F for the remainder of the baking time. So simple and easy to get bakery style muffins.
These muffins are a family favorite of ours. Not sure why we don’t make them year round, but they seem to be something we gravitate to in the fall. I am making a mental note to make these year round. That way I can keep fall, at least in my taste buds, all year long!
We hope you are as excited for fall as Sydney and I are. We also hope you give these delicious Applesauce Muffins a try. Have a wonderful fall season everyone!
