This is one of those odd recipes. You read it and an ingredient sticks out to you as not really fitting into the finished product. But sometimes it is the odd ingredient that ends up making the dish absolutely terrific! This is one of those times. The mystery ingredient in these Apple Crescent Dumplings, that make them so delicious, is Mountain Dew. Yes, I mean the soft drink! Sounds really odd, but the Mountain Dew makes these Apple Crescent Dumplings so divine. It is one of those times where you will just have to make the recipe and see for yourself. “Trust, but verify”, as my husband likes to say. 🙂
Do they not look amazing? Even though you now know there is Mountain Dew in them? 🙂
I was really serious, there is the can of Mountain Dew!
See, you can’t even tell there is Mountain Dew in the recipe. But, it adds a gooey glaze to the apple crescent dumplings. So yummy!
If desired, you could add chopped pecans before baking. You could also add an icing glaze and drizzle over the top when it is done baking. We like ours as pictured above with one exception pictured below. We love to add ice cream with a little caramel drizzle. So good!!
My favorite time to have this dessert is in the fall and winter. The apples and cinnamon baking in the oven give the most delicious smell to your kitchen. It just makes you feel all warm and cozy!
This recipe is so quick and easy. Perfect for those fall weekends when things are busy and you need a quick dessert to make. The great thing is that it looks like you spent a lot of time and effort on it, even though you didn’t! 🙂
This apple crescent dumplings recipe is a family favorite that my Aunt Martha gave me. We love sharing our family recipes with all of you!
We hope you enjoy your fall weather and take some time to enjoy some apples and cinnamon that are always abundant in the fall! Apples are truly a representation that fall is here!
Remember, an apple a day keeps the doctor away! Have a great one!
