I know this is out of the norm for us, but today I want to talk about something besides food and travel. I know, surprising right? But, Mom and I do live a normal life and deal with issues just like all of you. One issue I deal with is my wavyish hair. Not straight, kind of wavy, and even sometimes curly hair that used to drive me crazy. Not anymore! Jessicurl to the rescue.
Curly Girl Journey
Towards the end of November I found out about the “curly girl” method (CG). I’ve always had a wave to my hair and some days it curls better than others. Unfortunately, I tried to look like every other girl’s hair and do the curling wand “barrel curl” because it is what you are “supposed” to do (like in our photos from the fall). I found Instagram accounts that were devoted to nothing but people who wanted to share their CG journey to educate others. Soon enough, my Instagram feed was full of hair pictures!
I was so obsessed with learning how to start this journey with my own hair! After several weeks of researching and learning, I finally took the plunge. I received Jessicurl’s Light & Luminous Collection in the mail and was ready to wash my hair! This particular collection is for fine curly/wavy hair. However, they have two other collections if you don’t fall into this category. I’m so excited that Jessicurl offers products for specific hair types…this makes deciding what to order a lot easier!

Disclaimer: Jessicurl sent me free product in exchange for my review. Like always, the opinions are honest and mine alone.
Awesome Ingredients!
I’ve been using Jessicurl for about 12 weeks now (still very early in my CG journey). I really like that all of the products are cruelty-free and vegan. They are also certified gluten-free. This opens up these products to so many more people! Jessicurl also makes a point not to use harsh chemical ingredients that interrupt your curl pattern.

Fragrances…
Even if you are not a CG, you have probably heard how bad fragrances are in hair products. Jessicurl has addressed this issue, as well! You have three choices when you order their products. You can choose from no fragrance, Citrus Lavender or Island Fantasy. The last two are made with essential oils, so no harsh fragrances are added in at all. I went with no fragrance added for my first order, but I am very eager to smell the other two! They sound perfect for summer time.

Jessicurl Gentle Lather Shampoo
I absolutely love the Gentle Lather Shampoo! It is sulfate-free and formulated not to weigh your hair down. This was a huge plus for me…the slightest product tends to weigh down my hair. I was a little worried about going to a low-lather shampoo (have to love the suds!), but I thought this one did great throughout my transition. Do I miss a headful of suds? Yes…but the end result is totally worth it!

I’m still testing out all of the stylers from the Light & Luminous collection. One day I will think I’ve found my favorite, then the next day proves me wrong! But I love being able to try several different products and seeing what works together and what doesn’t. That is the beauty in the Jessicurl collections!
Hang In There…Keep Going!
So far, I can definitely tell I’m not using all of those silicones and other harsh products that are in the majority of haircare products today. Do I have bad hair days? Yes. Is it worth the “blah days” to get to the “amazing days”? Absolutely! I highly encourage you to take the plunge and love on your curls! Check out Jessicurl’s website and see if there is anything you may want to add to your CG routine.

I’d love to hear what part of your CG journey you are in…leave me a comment below! Thanks for letting me ramble on about my hair and not food or travel. Until next time. 😊
I’ve never heard of this brand! I’m going to have to try it because everything else I have tried either doesn’t work or just leaves my hair frizzy and feeling heavy. 🙂
I have the same issue with heaviness! My hair is super fine and can’t take the really heavy products…they just weigh it down.
