If you love home decor and holiday decor, then this holiday 3-tier stand article is just for you! Decorating for the holidays is one of my very favorite things to do. There is just something so warm and cozy about a home that is alive in Christmas decorations and lights.
My Holiday 3-Tier Stand
One of my very favorite Christmas decorations is my holiday 3-tier stand! I decorate it differently all year long, but I have to admit that decorating it for Christmas is probably my very favorite. Even though I enjoy decorating it for Christmas the most, it is still tons of fun to decorate it for all the other seasons and holidays. Mine sits on our kitchen counter, but you can place them anywhere and decorate them any way you want. That is the fun of it! Make it your own to suit your personal decorating style.
What You Will Need
For a holiday 3-tier stand you start with a basic stand. Mine is 3-tiered but there are also many 2-tier ones to choose from. They also come in a variety of colors and shapes. Pick whichever suits your decor the best. Today I am going to show you how to decorate the stand for the Christmas holiday.
Once you have selected your holiday 3-tier stand, you will need different items to fill the different levels. When choosing items, keep in mind the size and height of the different tiers. I decided on red, white and green as the color theme and added in a little brown for a rustic flair. Then I went out shopping for different items that fit the size of the tier and my color scheme.
IMPORTANT: If you want to make this cost effective, shop after the Christmas holidays for the next year. You can save anywhere from 75% to 90% by shopping during clearances. If you are going to change out your tier to match the seasons and holidays the costs can quickly add up. Shopping after each holiday saves you a ton of money!
Most of the items in my holiday 3-tier stand came from Hobby Lobby and small home decor boutiques. You can also find items on Amazon, Etsy and major store chains. It is not hard at all to find small items for this project. Just make sure and always be on the lookout when you are out and about. If you like to shop like I do, then it won’t be a problem! 🙂
Bottom Tier
I find it easier to work from the bottom up. For the bottom tier of my holiday 3-tier stand I put the garland in first and then wound around battery operated white lights. The battery operated lights make it nice if you are not near an outlet or you don’t want the electric cord showing.
Middle Tier
I decorated the middle tier second. I love having different textures and colors in together. Just keep rearranging each tier until you find it to be perfect. Sometimes you have to play around a bit to get the perfect fit and visual appeal. Sometimes you purchase an item thinking you will put it on one level and end up liking it better on another level. That’s the fun with this holiday 3-tier stand project, there is no right or wrong, only what you like and think looks nice!
Top Tier
Saving the top tier for last keeps you from knocking things out or bumping them while reaching around to run the garland and lights.
Here is my completed Christmas holiday 3-tier stand! All ready for the Christmas holiday season. 🙂 It was super quick to put together and looks really festive.
This is one of those craft projects that can become really addictive! Before you know it you are decorating for Valentine’s Day, St Patrick’s Day, Easter, July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is just so much fun!
I have seen really cute ones that have items for hot chocolate in them and set on a hot chocolate bar. Some people decorate them with coffee items and cups for a coffee bar and leave them decorated that way year round.
Baby nurseries with a 3-tier stand full of necessary baby items is a really cute idea. A bathroom with a 3-tier stand full of lotions and washcloths or one that holds makeup and brushes are both really neat ideas.
Wedding and baby showers are another place you can use a 3-tier stand and decorate it for the food table or as a themed centerpiece. The sky is the limit on the creativity and uses for a tiered stand.
The most important thing to do first is find a tiered stand that you love and then figure out how you want to use it.
Hopefully, you now have a new craft project to start and enjoy (like you really needed another one, I know!).
Since it is close to Christmas, check out this neat spin on the classic grab bag exchange!
Have a wonderful Christmas season!
