Awesome Cincinnati Restaurants…
Being the enthusiastic foodies that we are, no road trip would be complete without food stops. By food stops, we mean really good food stops! While on our Cincinnati, OH road trip we were fortunate to hit some great Cincinnati restaurants. These should definitely be added to your list of great restaurants when you visit.
Incline Public House
The Incline Public House, located at 2601 W 8th St, Cincinnati, OH had really great food, but quite honestly…I don’t know what they could have served us that would have topped the amazing view from this restaurant! Oh my goodness! We discovered where they got their name Incline Public House. You are sitting up high above Cincinnati and the most beautiful scenic view just goes on and on. It is like a two for one. Dinner and a show! Truly spectacular!
Back to the foodie part of this article though. We started with their onion rings for an appetizer. These were so good! The batter was absolutely scrumptious! For our main dishes, Sydney had their Wood Fired Pepperoni Pizza. She said it had a nice, woodsy flavor. I had the Chicken Stir Fry. I loved the fact you could see the big pieces of chicken! The chicken pieces were a nice size, tender and moist. We have to say the dessert almost topped the view. Almost! The Chocolate Chip Cookie Alamode was beyond delicious! You really need to visit the Incline Public House, not only for some good food but for an amazing, scenic view! This would be the perfect date night! Make sure to add this as one of your must-stops for Cincinnati restaurants.
If you like home cooking like Sydney and I do, then this is a must stop if you are ever in Cincinnati. The Hitching Post, located at 2715 Madison Rd, Cincinnati, OH is well known for their pot-n-pan cooking and it is so easy to see why. Every…single…item we ate was mouth watering! We both had their famous fried chicken. Amazing! Their macaroni salad tasted just like the macaroni salad my mom makes.
The green beans were absolutely delicious! We tried a Kettle Kake that they are widely known for. It is not a donut and not a biscuit. It reminded us of a funnel cake you would get at the fair. We also sampled their Belgian Waffles that are made with pearl sugar. Absolutely delicious! For dessert we had their homemade Dutch Apple Pie and their Lemon Cream Pie. Wow! So incredibly amazing! You can buy a whole pie or just a slice. What fun would just a slice be though?
Frank Kahsar and his sister, Peggy Arnold, own the Hitching Post. Frank came out to introduce himself to us. He shared that he and Peggy purchased the Hitching Post in 1986. Their best seller for breakfast is their signature omelets and following closely behind is their fried chicken & waffles. For lunch and dinner, their best seller is their famous fried chicken. From May through September they offer deep fried corn on the cob. Frank also shared that they have an excellent Royalty Rewards Program for returning customers. Seriously, if home cooking is your thing you must stop by the Hitching Post and try some great home cooking. We promise that you will be glad you did! 🙂
Cincinnati restaurants offer many different exotic cuisines, but the Hitching Post is a great homestyle restaurant that offers a variety of favorite homecooked meals. They don’t have to offer squid or calamari to stand out against competitors!
Our breakfast both mornings was at the Bluebird Bakery. They are located in the Heart of Glendale, Ohio’s Historic Village Square (29 Village Square, Glendale, OH). For breakfast they offer quiches, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt with fruit & granola, scones, muffins, danishes and coffee cake. Both mornings, knowing we were going to be eating a lot of food throughout the day, we opted for a lighter selection. I had the yogurt with fruit & granola. Seriously, I could have eaten the yogurt plain! It had this light vanilla flavor and was so creamy. I wanted to ask them if they made it and if not what brand it was, but thought I probably shouldn’t. 😉 So I refrained and will forever be wondering about it.
Sydney had the coffee cake and lemon poppy seed scone. She said both were really good. For lunch they offer a variety of soups, salads and sandwiches. They also offer many desserts. Cookies, pies, brownies, macaroons and chocolates are just a few of the many goodies you can get here. Both mornings I had their Blueberry Coffee. Yum! So fitting to offer Blueberry Coffee at the Bluebird Bakery. 🙂
We wanted to add Bluebird Bakery to our list of awesome Cincinnati restaurants because of the small town feeling that is offers with its amazing food. The two accompany each other so well! Add a cup of coffee into the mix and you have perfection!
The BB Riverboats had a delicious dinner the evening we took our cruise. Our meal started with a nice tossed salad. I loved the vinegrette dressing! The meat choices were marinated chicken and carved sirloin with au jus and creamy horseradish sauce. Both were so tender and moist! Garlic mashed potatoes, roasted marinated vegetables and vegetarian pasta were the side dishes offered that evening. OMG! I could have eaten nothing but the mashed potatoes. They were amazing!
Rolls & butter also came with your meal. Of course we can’t forget the incredible dessert. The strawberry cheesecake was the perfect ending to this delicious dinner. This is one of the most unique Cincinnati restaurants on the list; we highly recommend you experience it! The BB Riverboats is located at 101 Riverboat Row, Newport, KY.
Riverside Food Tours
On the Cincy Top Ten Tour with Riverside Food Tours we had a Belgium Waffle at Taste of Belgium on W Freedom Way. It was really delicious and super hot (I love my hot food hot and my cold food cold)! We had chili and chili dogs at Skyline Chili downtown. Once again, these were really delicious! On a side note, Skyline Chili originated in Cincinnati. That was pretty cool to learn!
Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip was the ice cream flavor ready and waiting for us downtown at Graeter’s Ice Cream. We learned that this is their top seller. It was so yummy and perfect on this very hot day! Holtman’s Donut Shop, on Vine St, was our next foodie stop. We each selected a donut. I had the chocolate cream filled and Sydney had a cinnamon glazed donut. Both were absolutely amazing! They truly melted in your mouth!
Eckerlin Meats, on E Elder St, was a really neat meat shop that we visited. For the first time ever Sydney and I tried Goetta. Goetta is a combination of sausage and oats with various spices. It is a Cincinnati breakfast staple we were told. We had such a fun a delicious time on our Cincy Top Ten Tour. So many new places to add to our list of amazing Cincinnati restaurants! A huge shout out to Jackie! She was an amazing tour guide and so knowledgeable on the history of Cincinnati, OH. To see all the pictures from our tour click here!
Sydney and I highly recommend you try any/all of these amazing Cincinnati restaurants and food establishments. You can’t go wrong with any of these!
