Cincinnati Zoo
The Cincinnati Zoo is a must, especially if you have children. Sydney and I are huge fans of gorillas, chimpanzees and monkeys of all types. The gorilla exhibit was so neat! We could have stood there for hours and watched them interact with each other.
Another area that the Cincinnati Zoo is known for is their hippo exhibit, thanks to Miss Fiona! Fiona was born very prematurely and the staff worked tirelessly to nurse her back to health. She is now thriving and it is so neat to watch her interact with her parents! Unfortunately, we were not able to get any good pictures of her. 🙁
There were two things we found extra nice about the zoo. The first was that there was lots of shade. This was so nice because the day we were there it was 95 degrees outside! The other wonderful thing about this zoo is that they offer free ice water at various locations in the zoo. Such a nice and much needed touch! Definitely add this to your Cincinnati activities list if you are coming soon! The Cincinnati Zoo is located at 3400 Vine St, Cincinnati, OH.
The giraffes were another one of our favorites. You can get up close and personal with them in the feeding area. So much fun! This is a great hands-on activity if you have little ones with you.
Findlay Market
Findlay Market is a really cool place to visit. If you love cooking and food like we do, this will be a place you won’t want to miss when you visit Cincinnati. They have several meat markets here, along with bakeries, a spice store, cheese shop and way too many other shops and stores to name! Many people come here for lunch. They have a homemade, hot lunch prepared for them and then sit outside in the patio area or inside in the food court and enjoy their lunch.
It smells amazing in the Findlay Market! Spicy, sweet, fried and many other delectable scents make you want to get one of everything! Outside of the Findlay Market, on either side of the street, you will find many other shops and restaurants. You could easily spend a whole day browsing the Findlay Market and surrounding area. As far as Cincinnati activities go, this one is for the food lover (like us!). Findlay Market is located at 1801 Race St, Cincinnati, OH.
University of Cincinnati
You can’t come to Cincinnati without visiting the University of Cincinnati Campus. You can find the University of Cincinnati at 2600 Clifton Ave, Cincinnati, OH. Sydney and I walked around the campus and took in all the neat architecture. It was nice to just leisurely stroll through the campus and unwind a bit. We went into some of the buildings and definitely got that “campus feeling”! This would be one of those fun Cincinnati activities for upcoming college freshmen.
Eden Park
Eden Park is another neat place to relax and unwind. You can find Eden Park at Eden Park Dr, Cincinnati, OH. I seriously could have just sat and enjoyed this park for hours. It was so peaceful and gorgeous. Completely unexpected! People were walking, having picnics, playing with their children and dogs and overall just having a really nice time! For all you photography lovers out there, this is an awesome park for getting that really neat shot! If you have little ones, this should definitely be high on your list of Cincinnati activities.
BB Riverboats
The BB Riverboats was so much fun! We went on the Captain’s Dinner Cruise and had a blast. The food (much more about the food in the Places to Eat in Cincinnati, OH article) was absolutely delicious! There was so much dancing. It was a lot fun whether you were dancing or were a spectator. You could also sit outside on one of three different levels and just enjoy the view. You could even go up on the third level and meet the captain. Our cruise started at 7:00 pm and ended at 9:30 pm. Toward the end of the cruise it was so neat to see all the city lights come on as it got dark outside. BB Riverboats is located at 101 Riverboat Row, Newport, KY.
Riverside Food Tours
The “Cincy Top 10” tour with Riverside Food Tours was perfect for these two foodies! We started at Taste of Belgium. Then we proceeded to Skyline Chili, Graeter’s Ice Cream and Holtman’s Donuts. Our last stop on the food tour was Eckerlin Meats. Between each stop we checked out a different part of the city. We went to the The Banks, downtown, Washington Park and Over the Rhine. This allowed for some great photo opportunities and for some digestion of all the amazing food! 🙂 You can get more information on different Riverside Food Tours here.
Over-The-Rhine
Over-The-Rhine is another fun part of the city to explore. It is currently being revitalized. Homes and apartments are being built and renovated. New businesses are opening up all over this area. People will be able to walk from their homes to shops, stores, restaurants, coffee shops and many other businesses. It was so incredibly neat to see this area being revitalized! If we had more time I could have went up and down the streets and into all the neat boutiques and shops.
Sydney and I had an amazing time on our Cincinnati, OH road trip! We only wished we would have had more time here. I guess that gives us a good excuse to come back and see and do more things. And, of course, to eat lots more food! When people think of Cincinnati, they think of the Cincinnati Reds. There is so much more to this great city than just baseball! You really should come and check it out for yourself!
