This is probably going to be one of my favorite articles ever! This is because The Neighborhood Nest is touching people’s lives in a special way. They specialize in gluten free baking. The entire space is completely dedicated to gluten free baking. This is extremely important when you are talking about cross contamination! For the person with celiac disease or the extremely gluten intolerant person, just the tiniest amount of gluten can send them to the hospital! What The Neighborhood Nest is offering these individuals is life changing for them!
Amber Tipton owns The Neighborhood Nest and does all the baking with a part-time employee. She has been baking for the past 5 years, since graduating culinary school. Amber has a dual associates degree in culinary arts and hospitality management. She opened this dedicated gluten free space in November 2017. One thing you will notice is that the store does not look like your average retail bakery. Amber describes the space as more of a production and test kitchen. Her customers order their products online, she bakes them, and then they pick them up. On Wednesday mornings the pre-order menu goes up on her website. Customers can place their orders between Wednesday mornings and 9:00 am Monday morning. All the baking is done on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Pick up is later on Thursdays and Fridays. Amber sends you an email when your order is ready. On Fridays only they have cash and carry. If there are extra items available customers may purchase them. How easy is this?

Along with gluten free items, Amber also makes dairy and nut free items upon request. Currently she is working on a Keto line of baked goods. Look for these items in the future.
A few of the main staples you can always order are bread, English muffins, noodles, and dinner rolls. Pictured below is the English Muffin. Wow, you could barely tell that it was gluten free! It was delicious!
The biscuits literally melted in your mouth. They were so amazing! Imagine this as a breakfast sandwich with eggs and a sausage patty between them. Yummy!
I asked Amber what made her decide to specialize in gluten-free baked goods. She explained that her daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease and a year later Amber was diagnosed with it also. She said 50% of her customers are either gluten intolerant or have celiac disease. The other 50% are living a gluten-free lifestyle.
Amber said it was extremely difficult finding a really good gluten-free flour blend initially. She worked and worked to come up with the blend she uses today. She loves doing research and development! She is constantly testing and tweaking new recipes. When Amber isn’t baking or working on research and development she enjoys teaching cooking classes.
She has fine tweaked these lavender shortbread cookies. They are beyond delicious! Slightly crunchy and full of lavender and butter flavor. These are a must try!
We got to sample a pita chip from her keto line that she is starting. Like the above items, they too are simply amazing! Everything we tried was so good!
Tuesdays through Fridays you will find Amber in the production kitchen baking her heart out. She spends long days making sure her products are the best they can be and ready for pick up for her loyal following. She has an ever growing following of new and returning customers. That about says it all right there! 🙂
Her most popular item ordered is her cinnamon rolls, followed very closely by her soft pretzels and her noodles come in third place.
Everything, except for the cupcakes, freeze very well for about 6 months. The bread products last for about 1-2 weeks in the refrigerator.
She takes custom orders for wedding, birthday and graduation cakes. She will also take orders for some of her cupcakes. Currently she makes 24 different flavors of cupcakes. Once again, like all her other products, her cakes and cupcakes are gluten free!
Below are some pictures of baked goods that were packaged and ready for pick up. How amazing is this? Look at all of this baked goodness just waiting to go home with you!
Whether graham crackers, muffins, cookies, breads or pies are your thing, you can place an order and Amber will bake and package specifically for you. She has a continual menu of the basic staples and a rotating menu of other baked goods.
Amber even finds time to do some baking for local restaurants. She has gift cards available to give that loved one in your life. I can’t think of anything better that you could give someone who is unable to eat gluten!
A dear friend of ours is the one who told us about The Neighborhood Nest. She was nice enough to write a review for this awesome business!
The Neighborhood Nest has been one of my favorite places since I was diagnosed with celiac disease two years ago. The gluten free baked goods are just as good if not better than what I ate before. Some of my favorites include the dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls, cheese crackers and pretzels. It is great knowing that the owner has celiac as well, so I am confident knowing she takes steps to make sure there is no cross contact. Amber truly cares about all the customers and is so passionate about making good gluten free food! She is always testing new recipes and perfecting them as much as possible before selling them to her customers. If you are gluten free by choice or for medical reasons The Neighborhood Nest is a great option for all your sweet treats!
