Sydney and I have something completely different for you today. We went behind the scenes with Amy Zumberger of Ask Amy Home Furnishings. Amy is a professional stager and knows so much about the industry.
While you can come into the showroom and purchase furniture and decor items, the main focus of Ask Amy Home Furnishings is helping home owners design their living areas and get the best look and use of their space. Whether it is the actual living/family rooms, bedrooms, kitchens or other spaces, Amy can help you sort through the ever changing world of home decor. For many of us, this can be overwhelming and intimidating!
Amy was a stay-at-home mom who focused on her family and put them first. After getting her children through college, Amy said that it was her turn. She has always had a passion and flair for home decorating and knew she wanted to focus in this area. She obtained the necessary certifications and credentials and then 7 years ago Ask Amy Home Furnishings was established.
Their motto is “Let us help you fall in love with your home again!” Implementing space planning and design concepts is one of the things that they do best. They work to create a home that is comfortable and works for your family and your lifestyle. Maybe you are building a new home and have no idea where to start; Amy and her team would be more than glad to sit down with you and provide an in-home consultation.
Amy goes to the West Coast yearly to stay ahead of the ever changing home decor trends. She said it usually takes about 3 years for whatever style is trending on the West Coast to get over to us here in Ohio and on the East Coast. She said the farmhouse decor is here to stay for the next several years. At Ask Amy Home Furnishings, the farmhouse style is the most popular with their customers followed by the more traditional style.
They carry a very nice selection of both these styles in the showroom. There is so much to look at and see when you come in. The choices in decor are truly awesome!
They also feature furniture lines from Broyhill, Lane, Best Home Furnishings and Ashley. Customizable fabric and leg finishes for the furniture truly allows you to design the look and feel you want. Maybe you are needing window treatments or accent rugs, they can help you blend everything together perfectly!
Amy was sharing with us that the trending color right now is different shades of blues. From navy to teal, the blue hues are what is in style. She put together a couple different fabric sets for us to see.
We asked Amy what the biggest mistake she sees homeowners making. She said the first is choosing furniture that is too large for the space. This is followed by choosing the wrong furniture for the architecture of the home.
We also asked Amy what her inspiration is when she does a design for a customer. She said that the first is the architecture of the house. Very contemporary furniture will not work in a farmhouse very well. She said that she also listens to what the customer is telling her and considers their lifestyle.
Sydney and I found their home decor kiosk system to be really neat and helpful. We were able to envision things so much more. With the click of a mouse, we literally entered a whole new world of possibilities! It was not only very informative, but it was also a lot of fun! 🙂
They have designed and redesigned over 800 homes in the past 4 years! Wow! They must be doing something right to accomplish this. Ask Amy Home Furnishings is Women Owned, Business Certified and has 9 employees. The employees do not work on commission. Amy explained that by not working on commission they are able to keep the focus on the customer, as it should be! Love this!
Ask Amy Home Furnishings would love to help you with your space planning and design needs.
