Do Sydney and I have a treat for you! We had the great fortune to get to meet and learn about Ashley’s Pastry Shop. What a great place! If pastries, donuts, cookies, cakes or bread are your thing then you are definitely going to want to visit here.
Theresa Hammons and her husband, Greg, opened their doors in 1982 and have been going strong ever since. The Hammons named their pastry shop after their first daughter, Ashley. They have two daughters and both of them worked at the shop before entering the career world.
Theresa was a wonderful tour guide as she walked us through her bakery world. Everything is made from scratch and is made on-site. The bakery is in operation 22 hours a day. They have 3 different shifts and employee 14 people. Some of their employees have been with them for over 20 years. What a testimony to the type of employers Greg and Theresa are!
Ashley’s Pastry Shop has been voted “Best Local Bakery” for the past 3 years in the Dayton Magazine. Their philosophy is based on taste, customer service, and cost. They deliver their very best to their customers at an affordable cost! Delivering on their promise is extremely important to them. Theresa said she and her husband believe in supporting other local businesses. They believe that when local businesses promote and support each other it strengthens the community.
Finally, what you have all been waiting for….the pictures of these scrumptious baked goodies! 🙂
The Sand Tarts are the #1 best seller for Ashley’s Pastry Shop. Brown sugar, cinnamon, and meringue make these popular cookies so yummy!
The Glazed Croissants are the #2 best seller for them. It is a cross between a donut and a croissant. So good!!
Theresa shared with us that the breads they make are her personal favorite.
They make breads and pastries for restaurants, coffee shops, hospitals, and many other establishments. Two of the local restaurants they bake for is the Pine Club and the Oakwood Country Club. You can get these salt sticks at Ashley’s Pastry Shop or they are severed at the Pine Club.
Wedding cakes are a big business for Ashley’s Pastry Shop. They pride themselves on doing custom work and have a team that does the decorating.
Theresa said that their cinnamon bread makes the best french toast. Sounds right down our alley. We will have to give this a try!
Who wants cookies? We do!
Doesn’t this next cake look amazing? It is a white cake with 3 layers of fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Then it is topped with more strawberries and whipped cream. What is not to love? This looks so delicious!
Donuts are a favorite among the customers. Check out these mouth watering beauties!
A huge holiday favorite for their customers is the Butterscotch and Pecan Rolls. They have carmel, cinnamon, and pecans. It is available with or without the pecans.
May we recommend some specialty items?
Their busiest season is September through December. Theresa said that celebrating the little things in life are important and they like to celebrate back-to-school. This celebration kicks off the start of the busy holiday season for them.
Theresa loves to celebrate the everyday events. A good report card, anniversary, birthdays, new baby, new job, retirement, etc. Everyday is a great day to celebrate. While we were there they were getting ready to celebrate the Oscars. How much fun is this? 🙂
I love the fact that Theresa carries a line of greeting cards. If you stop in to pick up something for a special occasion you are able to purchase a card to go with your goodies!
